    Demographics has everything to do with violent crime statistics but we are not allowed to say that..

      Do you mean to say that violence in urban areas are high because there are a lot more minorities? Is that what you think you can’t say? I just said it, but if you think the study reported here supports that opinion, then you totally misread it. The rates of gun deaths are now higher in rural areas.

        What the article says, albeit not until the end, is that rural counties have higher gun suicide rates. Gun homicide rates at substantially higher in urban areas.

        This is the largest problem with our approach to gun violence. Addressing suicide, which rates are not affected by gun laws, would have a more dramatic affect.

        Demographics are a big divide in gun homicides as there are higher rates in less affluent areas, whether they be rural or urban.

    This article is a great display of how a researcher can lie with statistics. Living in a rural area is much safer than living in LA, SFO, Baltimore, St. Louis, Chicago, or NYC.

    What we have here is the usual push to disarm law abiding Americans.
