The List: Best Gaming Headsets, According to Experts

1. SteelSeries Arctis Nova Pro Wireless

At the top of the list of the best gaming headsets is SteelSeries Artics Nova Pro Wireless. “You still get all the great features of the previous SteelSeries Arctis Pro Wireless with some new technology including active noise cancellation and improved audio all around. Using a hybrid noise-canceling system with four mics, you can drown out the neighbor’s dog yapping or the low hum of an air conditioner. Though the ANC isn’t as good as some of the best noise-canceling headphones, it keeps you focused on the game rather than the distractions around you. There’s also some fantastic spatial audio onboard, so it’s easy to hear enemies lurking in the bushes or helicopters flying overhead. And you can make some next-level customizations to the EQ setting and game chat mix with Sonar and the SteelSeries GG app – good luck going back to your ordinary headphones for anything but listening to podcasts or the news,” says IGN.

Ditch your earbuds and boost game audio with this gaming headset. “We are currently still in the process of testing the SteelSeries Arctis Nova Pro, the wired (and therefore less expensive) version of the SteelSeries Arctis Nova Pro Wireless, but it’s already evident that it’s the best gaming headset on the market right now,” shares Tech Radar.

Level up your gaming experience with SteelSeries headset. “The SteelSeries Arctis Nova Pro wireless has blown the competition out of the water with its all-round excellence, and it’s the best gaming headset we’ve tested so far. That premium look and feel is backed up by unmatched audio quality, a plethora of additional controls at your fingertips, and its unique answer to battery woes. With its latest generation of high-end gaming headsets, SteelSeries has truly outdone itself,” writes Games Radar.

2. Razer BlackShark V2 Hyperspeed

What’s all the hype behind this Razer headset? “Considering the TriForce Titanium drivers and ultra-wideband microphone on offer here, that sets the Hyperspeeds apart from the vast majority of this lower mid-range market. We previously held the Razer BlackShark V2 as the best PC headset for most players, but with a wireless connection and boosted mic capabilities, the Hyperspeed has taken over,” says Game Radar.

It’s lightweight but there’s still a problem. “The Blackshark V2 is one of the better-sounding headsets we tested, with crisp and balanced sound that worked well across genres. But while we liked its lightweight design, its rougher ear cushions had us going back to the Alpha S,” writes CNN.

This gaming headset looks good and sounds great. “If you’re looking for an excellent gaming headset that doesn’t cost as much as the best overall pick, the Razer BlackShark V2 earned the title of best value gaming headset among the 10 headsets I tested. This headset doesn’t offer the same range of wireless-connectivity features as the SteelSeries Arctis Nova Pro Wireless, but it looks good, sounds great and has a no-complication wired connection that works well with any gaming console with a headphone jack, due to the good seal created by the ear cups,” shares Forbes.

3. Corsair Virtuoso RGB Wireless SE

Number three on the list of the best gaming headsets is the Corsair Virtuoso RGB Wireless SE. “Although the price tag is quite lofty, the Corsair Virtuoso RGB Wireless XT punches well within its price range and above, even trading blows with pricier audiophile sets. It’s the best PC headset for gaming and truly offers a premium gaming experience,” shares Games Radar.

This headset lets you hear every detail of the game. “This premium wireless gaming headset offers high-quality audio and looks pretty and shiny — instead of clunky and heavy. The SE version of the Virtuoso RGB boasts gunmetal-colored aluminum stamped with a touch of RGB via the Corsair logo. Overall, it looks as expensive as it is. The Virtuoso RGB SE delivered strong audio, including hi-res support, in our testing. Its 50mm drivers sounded great with gun fights in games such as Borderlands 3, while music reproduction sat in the middle of bass-heavy headphones like the Audio-Technica’s ATH-G1 and flatter-sounding ones like the SteelSeris Arctis Pro Wireless. Topping things off with a 20-hour wireless battery life, Corsair’s Virtuoso RGB Wireless SE is a fine pair of cans that both look and sound premium,” writes Tom Shardware.

Enjoy distortion and noise free chats with friends while gaming. Experts also like the Corsair Virtuoso Wireless XT for its “exceptional vocal clarity and distortion-free communication are made possible by its high-bandwidth detachable 9.5mm omnidirectional mic. In short, the microphone on this gaming headset is one of the best you’ll find. There’s an RGB LED ring on the microphone to let you know if it’s muted or not,” says The Gamer.

4. HyperX Cloud Alpha

Fourth on the list of best gaming headset is HyperX Cloud Alpha. “The biggest drawcard for this headset is the new huge battery. You’re looking at up to 300 hours of battery life in wireless mode while keeping the headset relatively light and comfortable. It’s a massive feat and I feel HyperX has pulled it off. Out of the box, this unit was reporting having about 80% charge, so I decided to leave it there to see how well that held. I spent a workday listening to music and checked the battery again: I swear it still said 80%. I have been using this thing for gaming and music listening consistently for the past week and we aren’t even at 50% battery yet,” says PC Gamer.

The padded cups for ears will enhance gaming experience. “Cloud Alpha is a chip off the old block in HyperX’s Cloud series, combining comfort with impressive audio quality. The impressive sound comes courtesy of a dual driver chamber design that separates out bass notes from mids and highs—ultimately producing clearer, smoother output. The Cloud Alpha’s earcups are the secret sauce behind its comfortable feel. These generously padded cups sit tightly on your head but without squeezing your temples, so they’re perfect for long gaming stints where you can forget you’re wearing them. In our PCWorld review our reviewer was impressed by the fact that you can fully remove the HyperX Cloud Alpha’s cables in the event they break, rather than having to buy a whole new gaming headset,” writes PC World.

This is the one that makes you feel like you’re in the game in real time. “The HyperX Cloud Alpha is an excellent option in its price range. It has a sturdy build, with a metal frame and reasonable comfort, although it got a little too warm for my taste. Audio sounded loud and crisp, with good low-end response for explosions and gunshots and flat, accurate mids. That’s along with a microphone that delivered more body than most, meaning that voices sounded deeper—like they are in real life. Its main deterrents were that the highs weren’t as detailed as the Razer BlackShark V2, so audio wasn’t as exciting or ultra-realistic,” shares Forbes.

5. Logitech G Pro X

Coming in at number five is Logitech G Pro X. “Conveniently, it comes in both wired and wireless options. But there’s more to it than meets the eye. Not only does it produce resonant sound on an expansive soundstage with 7.1 surround, but Logitech’s included software gives you granular control over the quality of your voice. The included mic and software were engineered with help from Logitech-owned Blue (of Blue Yeti fame), and together they produce crystal-clear, broadcast-quality comms. The price is also very reasonable,” says Wired.

Are you a gaming enthusiast looking to find the best headset on a budget? “Its feature is packed with Blue sound voice isolation and 7.1 surround sound that makes for a more realistic presentation of your environment. The headphones also come with two cable options, one for home use and the other for portable, so you can use it as a regular headphone or gaming headset. There is an external sound card with saveable EQ settings and preset sound settings provided by professional gamers. this can be accessed via the G-Hub software included with every headset; inside this, you can further customize the sound to your personal style,” writes Audiophileon.

This gaming headset is lightweight & stylish. “Logitech G Pro X Wireless offers a classic design, with coiled cables and a premium look and feel. As the hours passed, this headset felt a little heavy and uncomfortable on my head. I found other headsets more comfortable than the Logitech G Pro X Wireless. It outputs good-sounding audio, though, with excellent high-end clarity and detail and strong frequency response overall that provides accurate sound. But the microphone disappoints, capturing shrill audio with a heavy emphasis on the high mids,” shares Forbes.

 6. Turtle Beach Stealth 700

Even though number six is called Turtle Beach, there’s nothing slow about this technology. “Suppose you demand violence, speed and momentum while gaming. There is only one choice. Use the same headphones as Dr. Disrespect. The Turtle Beach 700 is an iconic set that has graced the head of the two times back to back champ for the past few years. It’s not just style over substance either because they are a seriously good wireless headset that costs less than the G Pro X used by Shroud. Features we loved were the stability of the Bluetooth system, which never dropped out in our testing. I loved the cool gel pads, which helped stop my ears from sweating mid-game. Most of all, it was noted by all the testers that the sound quality from the microphone was fantastic,” says Audiophileon.

Turtle Beach Stealth 700
Turtle Beach Stealth 700 Gen 2

Turtle Beach gaming headset is best for marathon gaming sessions. “The Turtle Beach Stealth 700 Gen 2 Max is a solid headset, with a heavily plastic build and a relatively tight clamp that made it less comfortable for extended wear. Its audio exhibited deep bass response and faithful reproduction and clarity in the highs, but its bass extension lacked the oomph to give things like explosions more body. The microphone had good lower frequencies, better than most I tested. Overall, this headset was good, but not enough to beat either of the two top picks. Specifically, the Razer BlackShark V2 was more comfortable and offered an even better frequency response,” writes Forbes.

The most amazing capability of this gaming headset is it can pair with the console and phone. “The Turtle Beach Stealth 700 Gen 2 is the best wireless headset we tested, thanks to cooling gel-infused ear cups that kept us comfortable for hours on end, tons of handy features and the unique ability to pair to both your console and phone at the same time,” shares CNN.

7. Xbox Wireless

Finally, number seven on the list of best gaming headset is Xbox Wireless. “The Xbox Wireless Headset is exactly what it says on the box: a wireless headset for the Xbox. It uses the same wireless connection Xbox Wireless Controllers use to pair with an Xbox One or Series S/X console without a separate transmitter, while keeping lower-latency and higher-quality sound than what Bluetooth allows. It has Bluetooth as well (also like the Xbox Wireless Controller), so you can also use it with any phone or PC if you don’t mind compromising on audio. This headset sounds good, though its microphone isn’t the best out there. It offers simulated surround sound and spatial audio on the Xbox, with Windows Sonic automatically enabled on the console,” says PC Mag.

If you are looking for budget friendly headset options, then Xbox wireless is best to go. “A great choice if you want a dependable Xbox headset that doesn’t cost a ton, the Xbox Wireless Headset offers good overall sound and some really neat and intuitive dial controls. It also has the ability to pair to your Xbox and phone at the same time. But if you’re able to spend more, the Stealth 700 Gen 2 has that same party trick on top of much better comfort, sound and features,” writes CNN.

“It’s one of the few headsets that can wirelessly connect via 2.4GHz directly to Xbox systems without using a separate USB dongle, and it also supports Bluetooth connections so you can use it with mobile devices and PCs. The headset works well with Xbox’s spatial audio options, and the EQ can be fully adjusted in the console’s settings menu for a more customized sound. Instead of a retractable, detachable, or swivel mic, the headset’s microphone has a flexible arm that lets you wrap it fully around the ear cup when not in use. The ear cups themselves double as dial controls that you can turn to adjust the volume or the balance between chat and game audio. The headset offers a pretty plain build, with the usual on-board controls you’d expect, and a comfortable fit. With a battery of 15 to 20 hours it lags behind some of the competition, but a 30-minute charge will last for about four hours,” shares Business Insider.

  1. People are still buying gaming headsets in 2022?
Just get any decent budget headphones/IEMs and a cheap mic and you’re gonna have better audio than any gaming headset on the planet, while still being probably cheaper than an average headset.
And if you really want even better audio just use equalizerapo to make everything sound better

  2. Making Lists like this without being able to provide actual and factual Tests should not count as journalism. Gaming Headsets is a deceptive Term used by Brands to sell Products of often inferior Quality for high prices to People who do not know better. Just buy a normal Headphone with a Microphone. It will be cheaper and just as good if not often better in quality.
