This is an interesting article,I say this because on the morning of My birth of My First Child 08/29/87 at 6:10 AM I was pushing his birth and in the hospital room at that day and time the TV was playing MTV videos and My son was born to Grateful Dead ~~ Touch of Grey! I will always remember this until the day I die and he came out with his fist out like the song his birth picture he has his fist held up🥰 I send him the song every single Birthday,he is now 36 and I still send it ! Thank You Grateful Dead for precious Moments!
You can’t really rank Dead songs. It’s fun trying though. Each song mentioned in the article and in this debate stirs my soul and takes me to times, places and friendships that I treasure. No one so far mentioned Hunter’s angry masterpiece New Speedway Boogie
I don’t think real deadheads agree with “Touch of grey” I think there are multiple other songs that fill that slot. I won’t argue any others. Just my humble opinion.
Just a little light says everything about my life from farmboy to combat in se asia thru all the years of riding thru urban blight and deadly delights.all the while hoping for that one touch, that burning light of love and peace that will make everything alright.
—I vote #1- Shakedown Street-an end in itself-2 All the Dead songs.
Most rest o’ their tunes all sounded the same – Draggy- in more ways than one,
In more ways than Not!
MY observation 😌 !
Weir was (is) talented . So is Garcia Thanks
So many . So many moods and images created in their music ! But a tune that gets me out of my mind everytime I hear chinacat sunflower / rider off Europe 72. The epitome of bliss
Stella Blue, is one of Jerry’s best sung songs , not because it’s the most listened to by the most Deadheads, but because it’s an excellent song with such meaning.
Some great songs. I would add Candyman, which happens to be my personal favorite. Talk about trippy. Love it!

No Deadhead ever voted for Touch of Grey. We hated all the attention from that song that fucked up our scene.
