Best Robot Vacuums for 2023: Top 5 Home Cleaners According to Expert Websites

Tired of constantly keeping up with cleaning? If it seems like the constant cascade of pet hair or crumbs keeps returning no matter how much you sweep, a robot vacuum might be a smart investment. Robot vacuums aren’t an entirely new concept and the technology isn’t perfect yet, but finding the best model that works for your home and cleaning needs can significantly reduce the time you spend lugging around a clunky vacuum or sweeping up.

And of course, there are benefits to always being tidy. One recent study reports that people who enjoy cleaning their home are actually happier than others. Robot vacuums can allow people to multitask on cleaning days by focusing on others chores needed to get done. The study even shows that cleaning was also associated with other positive health outcomes, including improved relaxation (indicated by 80% of respondents), heightened focus (77%), better sleep (72%), and increased productivity (72%).

Getting chores done is also good for the brain. A study of more than half a million adults finds that those who did household chores were 21 percent less likely to develop Alzheimer’s disease. Chores rank as the second biggest protective activity behind regular exercise — including brisk walks or bike rides — which lowered dementia cases by 35 percent.

According to the American Cleaning Institute, more than a quarter of Americans spend over seven hours a week tidying up — and some of us still worry that we aren’t doing enough or cleaning correctly. Robot vacuums are your friend when it comes to daily maintenance, with smart functions that learn the layout of your home and can be controlled or scheduled right through your smartphone.

Deciding to purchase a robot vacuum can be quite the commitment – with many devices ranging from $150 to $500+. StudyFinds set out to find the best robot vacuums currently on the market. For our findings, we visited 10 of the leading expert websites to see which robot vacuums were rated the highest. Our list is ranked based on the most-recommended vacuums across these sites.

The List: Best Robot Vacuums, According To Experts

1. iRobot Roomba i3 EVO

The iRobot Roomba i3 EVO is considered one of the best overall picks for price and reliability. It has a simple operating system and does what it’s made to do – clean!

“It’s also better at cleaning rugs than most bots, and hair doesn’t get tangled in its brushes as quickly. With the companion app and a Wi-Fi connection, you can turn the robot on or off, and optionally set an automatic cleaning schedule. That’s all you need to know—it’s simple,” NY Times writes.

This robot vacuum also allows you to create a smart map of your home and adjust cleaning preferences accordingly.

“With this feature enabled, the bot won’t have to start navigating from scratch every time it runs, so it should finish the job faster and run into walls and furniture less often,” Consumer Reports writes. “You can also use the Smart Map to tell the Roomba i3 EVO to clean specific rooms and avoid others.”

2. Roborock S7

If you want a dual device that will save you even more time and do double the cleaning duty, the Roborock S7 comes highly recommended.

“The Roborock S7 can vacuum and wet-mop your floors simultaneously, with an innovative sonic technology that scrubs floors up to 3,000 times per minute,” writes GoodHousekeeping.

The device is supported by innovative technology that allows you to set your exact cleaning preferences within the app, as well as a slew of other useful features.

“In addition to the usual features like cleaning schedules, zone targeting and others, the vacuum also has things like child lock, which will disable the physical buttons on the machine; different auto-emptying settings to choose from; “pin and go,” which lets you tap on your home map to send the robot to a specific location; and manual direction controls so you can move the machine like a toy car,” writes Engadget.

3. Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo T8 AIVI

The Evovacs Deebot Ozmo T8 AIVI is a hybrid vacuum and mop that has superb battery life, able to clean up to 170 minutes on one full charge. It also uses AI to detect and avoid any obstacles in its path.

“Its exceptional battery life and obstacle avoidance abilities make it a particularly compelling option for those with large homes and cluttered floors. If you can swing it, we highly suggest adding the Auto-Empty Station, which allows for a month of maintenance-free cleaning between dust bag replacements,” PC Mag writes.

Equipped with HD video and a microphone, the EVovacs Deebot Ozmo T8 AIVI is also great for users who want to watch pets or use their robot for extra surveillance.

“The Ozmo T8 AIVI was among the best at removing the debris types we tested on carpeting and hardwood. Plus, it remains relatively quiet at just 67 dB on the highest cleaning setting and 58 dB on Quiet mode,” Business Insider writes.

4. Roomba i3+ EVO

Experts agree that the Roomba i3 Plus EVO is the best option if you’re looking for a robot vacuum that can self-empty, saving you even more time.

“If you’re tired of manually emptying your current bot’s bursting dustbin on the daily, the Roomba i3+ EVO will eliminate that chore,” PC Mag writes. “It’s a particularly compelling option if you suffer from allergies, because it also uses a high-efficiency filter to capture allergens as it cleans.”

In consumer tests, the i3+ EVO outperformed the previous entry level Roomba series of vacuums, and did a great job of removing dirt from both carpet and flooring.

“When it finds an especially dirty area, it automatically goes into Dirt Detect mode and moves over the offending spot multiple times until it’s sufficiently clean. iRobot recently updated this model with smart mapping capabilities, so you can send it right to specific rooms by phone or voice for targeted area cleanings,” writes The Verge.

5. Eufy Robovac G30 Hybrid

If you prefer a robot that prioritizes accurate smart mapping with an efficient clean, the Eufy Robovac G30 is a great option at an affordable price.

“The Eufy Robovac G30 is a comparatively affordable robot with “Smart Dynamic Navigation 2.0,” which maps your home using a gyroscope (which helps a robot learn its orientation in a space) and accelerometer smart sensors (which gives a robot a sense of gravity in order to determine acceleration) to learn a home,” writes Forbes.

Besides accurate mapping abilities, this model is an affordable option for those who want the dual vacuum and mop.

“If you love the idea of a robot vacuum that can mop and vacuum, but you’re on a budget – this hybrid floor cleaner from Eufy is well worth considering,” writes TechRadar.
