Many consider the holiday shopping season the greatest time of the year. If you’re a Costco member, there’s nothing better than scouring through the annual Black Friday Costco holiday circular booklet that comes in the mail. With no shortage of great deals to choose from, we turned to the savviest consumer experts to find the top choices for the upcoming shopping holiday.
Remember, you don’t need to be a Costco member to take part in the moundful of deals. You can still buy things online, but be ready to pay an extra 5 percent fee, which may, in some cases, still work out in your favor. Also, there’s a little-known rule on Costco’s website: “Non-members, as well as members, may use Costco Shop Cards to shop at any Costco location in the U.S., Canada, or Puerto Rico, as well as online at Costco.com and Costco.ca.” The only catch? A member must purchase those Costco Shop Cards for you to use.
Finding the perfect holiday gifts can be extremely stressful, especially for parents. A survey of 2,000 parents of school-aged kids found 76 percent agree finding the perfect gift is harder than an Olympic sport, and 80 percent feel guilty if they get their child a gift they didn’t like. More than half of parents just outright ask their kids what they want, while others try to bring the holidays up discreetly to ask their child’s friends.
Savvy shoppers know that prices can fluctuate and sales can change on a daily basis. This year could be even more confusing, with some Black Friday deals already available, though it’s not clear if those prices will go down when the actual day arrives. One study found that most parents check on prices for certain holiday gift items at least four times a week. On average, parents are budgeting $220 for each child – with the highest budgets for seven to 12-year-olds – but 28 percent are trying to keep it below $100.
No need to hunt for the best price when it comes to Costco’s deals, the warehouse chain usually hits it out of the park.
