Existing cars ARE more “eco-friendly” then a new electric vehicle, this has been well understood for years with numerous studies conducted. But stop using the misnomer “eco-friendly”, there is no such thing. Nothing humans do, build, devise, design, deploy, implement or construct is “eco-friendly”, not when they have to rip the raw reseources out of the Earth and refashion them into something that pollutes, destroys, ruins and poisons the planet.
The analysis of environmental impacts on
energy use and carbon emissions revealed that electric vehicles have a markedly lower impact in both categories, especially in regions with clean power sources like British Columbia.

Electric Vehicle Myths – EPA
Myth #1: Electric vehicles are worse for the climate than gasoline cars because of the power plant emissions.
FACT: Electric vehicles typically have a smaller carbon footprint than gasoline cars, even when accounting for the electricity used for charging.
