The majority of young people and some adults can’t read, write or spell. Education has not been primary in the school system for a long time. Instead, children are besieged by bullying, gun violence, lack of teachers, COVID, etc.. so yes, education is minimal no wonder young adults don’t feel spelling is important. What a shame.

I’ve given up on being a grammar cop a long time ago. While grammar constituted the ‘rules of the language road’ it’s requirement for good language has diminished with the proliferation with the number of ways we communicate. I wish the people who speed down our road however would stick to the speed limit.

An ignorant and anemic population is far easier to control.

Language can sink you. The young don’t care. They can’t spell well and don’t want to broadcast their lack of intelligence. Too lazy or just not equipped. Their world will not survive very long. Only a small minority will be around.
