Ray Kurzweil, like famous astrologers, does what magicians & Mentalists call “Cold Readings”. That means spewing a constant stream of predictions, and then later cherry picking the 0.0001% that came close, and saying “See, I predicted that!” This article is just more of the same.
Kurzweil is mentioned halfway through the article under the heading, “Would AGI be friend or foe?” Kurzweil has maintained his prediction of 2045 as the date when we will experience the singularity since at least 2010, if not before. There was a cover story on this very topic in Time magazine back in 2011 – it was called “2045: The Year Man Becomes Immortal”. And quite frankly, it sure feels like we’re carelessly hurtling towards that prediction.
It’s reasonable to think man and machine will merge one day. The question, once this happens, will people have a choice whether to be plugged in or not. Very slippery of a slope.
O brave new world that has such creatures in it ..
Like Prospero in the Tempest do we throw our magic books into the sea or risk creating a race of Calibans? Technology can be like Ariel, a wonderful helper but it has another side to it.
Glad I’ll be dead by th time!

Why was Ray Kurtweil not mentioned? Why was the previous prediction of 2025 not mentioned? No offense but these ‘futurists’ are a joke.

In about 2032/3 Armageddon will give way to the Millennial Kingdom, a renewed earth for 1000 years.

Funny I have no choices now

The singularity already occurred.
