    instead of looking at gender, look at how content people are with their lives. stress and loneliness are the biggest killers. happily-married people live longer than people in bad marriages, or lonely people, or those with constant stress. when you overlay those factors onto a study group, the gender differences will explain themselves. single men and women who have aged out of the dating/marriage market are the most miserable, especially those who have experienced divorce.

    There are many factors why women tend to outlive their spouses. It is becoming more widely accepted that men face many more environmental hazzards & stress in the work place that are detrimental to their long term health.

    Diet is also a major contributer to both a female & male’s shortened longevity.
