    Thanks for sharing this info and to the Florida researchers for finding a way to conduct the study. Agreed we need a lot more than just the three FDA-approved drug treatments and that marijuana has an important role to play. I think kratom is another psychoactive substance with the potential to treat opioid addiction that isn’t getting enough attention–at least not by the FDA–and with similar barriers to research for scientists. It acts on the brain’s opioid receptors in a unique way and, crucially, without creating much, if any, respiratory depression–making it extremely hard to overdose. I’m not saying it’s a miracle cure or even necessarily better for most people than the FDA-approved drugs, but not everybody is the same, there is plenty of intriguing anecdotal evidence, and again we need all the help we can get to fight the opioid addiction crisis.
