Beautiful, strong hair is a sign of youth, health, and fertility. Therefore, a full head of bouncy hair is highly attractive. But few of us are naturally blessed with it, especially as we age. Some people struggle with dull hair, dryness, split ends – you name it. Luckily, the right hair product combination (along with a healthy lifestyle) can assist you with regaining your “good locks.” To help you find your ideal combo, StudyFinds consulted experts about the best two-in-one shampoo and conditioner products for healthy hair.

While we want our hair (and our body) to be healthy, not all hair products are. Researchers at the University of Michigan found that high levels of phthalates, a common shampoo ingredient, increase your diabetes risk by up to 63 percent. As endocrine-disrupting chemicals (EDRs), they’ve further been linked to breast and ovarian cancer, as well as early menopause. If you want to decrease your risk for those conditions, consider investing in natural shampoo.

To look and feel good, we want to take the best care of our hair, but there isn’t always enough time. Women especially often feel too busy to keep up with all of their tasks, let alone make time for self-care. “I hear countless women tell me they wish they could cut down on the time spent doing their own hair. They all wish they could get more time back for themselves,” says celebrity hairstylist Ashley Streicher.

For women (and men!) with a tight time budget, the best two-in-one products speed up the time you spend in the shower while ensuring healthy hair. To build the list, StudyFinds researched expert reviews on ten websites and narrowed it down to the top five in the haircare world today. Let us know your recommendations in the comments below!

The List: Best 2-in-1 Shampoo and Conditioner, Per Experts

1. Herbal Essences Hello Hydration 2-in-1 Shampoo & Conditioner

For two-in-one hair products, most experts recommend Herbal Essences’ Hello Hydration. “The color-safe and pH-balanced formula tames frizz, removes tangles, […] reduces dryness and split ends,” and is paraben, mineral oil, and cruelty-free, according to StyleCraze.

The Hello Hydration collection from Herbal Essences is made with coconut essence to provide a luxurious experience. The 2-in-1 shampoo and conditioner has Hawaiian coconut and orchid that transform dry hair into silky and shiny one. Its rich conditioning softens as well as nourishes the hair, providing long-lasting moisture that makes it easier to style the hair,” writes MomJunction

For BestReviews, Hello Hydration is one of its top picks because it’s “dermatologist-tested” with the “ability to cleanse and soften the hair, while also being safe enough to use on the body.”

2. Garnier Fructis Daily Care 2-in-1 Shampoo And Conditioner

This product was the second-most endorsed shampoo and conditioner combo. If you need a little extra zing when you wake up in the morning, try this grapefruit 2-in-1 shampoo and conditioner by Garnier,” recommends Lippie Hippie.

MomJunction thinks this combo is the “best for strengthening hair,” as “the shampoo is proven to strengthen the hair up to 15 times.” Garnier Fructis Daily Care 2-in-1 is made for daily use and without parabens. Another plus: “The bottle is made using recycled plastic.”

“This repairing shampoo+conditioner contains antioxidants that work effectively in imparting strength to the roots,” explains StyeCraze. “It cleanses your scalp, while the grapefruit extract helps revitalize each hair strand to give you soft and smooth hair. Additionally, it contains active fruit proteins and vitamins B3 and B6, which make your hair stronger, shinier, and healthier.”

3. Aveeno Fresh Greens Blend 2-In-1 Shampoo + Conditioner

If you want to keep it natural, Aveeno’s Fresh Greens Blend is a great choice. Made with “only natural ingredients,” “this gentle yet stimulating 2-in-1 by Aveeno […] has many natural ingredients and botanicals to stimulate your scalp and promote thick and healthy hair growth,” claims Lippie Hippie.

According to MomJunction, this product is best for achieving voluminous hair: “The Aveeno Scalp Soothing shampoo-cum-conditioner adds volume to fine hair. Oatmeal, which is known to promote a healthy scalp, is used as a primary ingredient in the shampoo. The shampoo is also infused with rosemary, cucumber, and peppermint to provide a fresh and cooling experience. Free from parabens and sulfates, it can be safely used on colored hair as well.”

“This 2-in-1 shampoo clarifies and moisturizes your hair in one easy step,” writes StyleCraze. “The brand uses wholesome farm-fresh inspired ingredients that nourish and strengthen your hair from roots to the tip.”

4. Tie: Neutrogena T/Gel Daily Control AND Suave Professionals Plus

For a mild hair treatment, we have two other great expert-recommended options: “The T/Gel Daily Control […] is touted by Neutrogena as a dermatologist-recommended, fast-acting shampoo for dandruff control,” says MomJunction. On the other hand, Suave’s two-in-one is “based on plants and botanicals” and “doesn’t have sulfates, parabens, or phthalates,” according to Lippie Hippie.

Neutrogena’s Daily Control “is formulated with Pyrithione Zinc that helps relieve itchy and flaky scalp. It contains vitamin E and wheat proteins that help moisturize your hair and scalp. This gentle cleanser promises to leave your hair looking soft and manageable,” states StyleCraze.

The Suave Professionals 2-in-1 is StyleCraze’s pick for sensitive scalps: “This pH-balanced moisturizing shampoo cleanses and conditions your hair in one quick step.” It “contains a salon-quality formula designed for [a] dry and itchy scalp” and “promises to control dandruff while reducing breakage and split ends.”

5. Pantene Pro-V Classic Clean 2-in-1 Shampoo & Conditioner

This product was up against Paul Mitchell MITCH Double Hitter (best value, per Lippie Hippie) and Head & Shoulders Classic Clean (best for moisturizing, but not great for colored hair, per MomJunction). What convinced us to give Pantene Pro-V Classic Clean a spot on our list was that multiple experts stress it’s safe for all hair types, including colored hair. It’s also BestReviews’ “best bang for the buck” and “best for everyday use.”

Includes antioxidants that will strengthen and moisturize strands and provide classic clean for everyday use,” says BestReviews.

With one single application, [Pantene Pro-V Classic Clean 2-in-1] cleanses the hair from root to tip, and conditions it to leave it looking healthy. The shampoo, which claims to keep the hair moisturized for 24 hours, can be used on color-treated hair. This 2-in-1 product also strengthens the hair, protecting it from damage,” adds MomJunction.
