The List: Best Dior perfumes, According to Scent Experts

1. Miss Dior

Miss Dior Eau de Parfum
Miss Dior Eau de Parfum

Like we mentioned earlier, this was Christian Dior’s first scent ever released. Before he launched fragrances, he was still a huge name in fashion. This just took him to the next level. How did it all start? Dior asked perfumer Jean Carles, “to make me a fragrance that smells like love,” and the rest was history (Perfume).

Dior perfumes make a statement, and Miss Dior set the tone for the entire fragrance collection back in 1947 when it first came to be. Even today, “it still has legs right at the top of Dior’s best-seller list,” says Who What Wear. What does it smell like? It is a floral, sweet scent with a creamy, fruity touch. The essence of Miss Dior’s top notes are a radiant blend of mandarin, peppery mandarin, and Sicilian tangerine. Then, you are met with a chorus of peony, lily-of-the-valley, and powdery iris. Vanilla and musk create a creamy foundation, while sandalwood and patchouli provide a touch of earthiness. The result is a harmonious blend, like a comforting cashmere wrap on a cool evening.

Admirers of Dior fragrances tend to have a keen sense of style, valuing luxury and quality in their personal grooming choices. Miss Dior EDP is Woman and Home‘s top choice partly for the nostalgia factor. “Housed in the instantly recognizable bottle, adorned with the Miss Dior bow, it reminds us of our late teens when we first ventured into the world of ‘adult’ fragrances and became acquainted with Miss Dior EDT. Sweet, without being sickly-sweet, this scent became a signature for many,” they write in their review.

2. J’adore Eau de Parfum

Falling in at a close second is the J’adore Eau de Parfum. This is yet another heavily floral scent. You can expect notes of ylang-ylang, damascena rose, and sambac jasmine. Style Craze says this is perfect for anyone who is all about sophistication and femininity, from the scent down to the luxurious bottle.

Aficionados of J’adore Eau de Parfum often have a taste for classic yet contemporary fragrances that blend femininity and luxury. According to Pinkvilla, J’adore is not overly sweet, but describes every spritz as “a freshly bloomed meadow.” They also appreciate the citrusy notes that shine through. It’s great for all-day wear and dates.

Those drawn to J’adore typically appreciate the artistry in perfume creation, recognizing the skill in crafting such a harmonious scent. It has been a best-seller for over 20 years. Woman and Home says the mixture of florals in this scent creates a “pillowy soft scent that’s classy and modern.”

3. Dior Addict

Number three on the list of the best Dior perfumes is Dior Addict. Addict is among those gravitating fragrances of Dior that make a lasting impression, mirroring their dynamic presence. Woman and Home describes the EDP as an “intoxicating, seductive scent that will have you coming back for more,” with a name that matches its effect on people. Expect a blend of fresh mandarin leaf, floral jasmine sambac, and creamy bourbon vanilla.

Fans of this fragrance line usually have a flair for the dramatic, opting for scents that leave a memorable and lasting impact. Perfume suggests Addict for any occasion, especially day wear. Dior even named an entire lipstick line after this fragrance with the same iconic packaging.

4. Dior Poison

With a bottle that almost looks like a poison apple, this is a fitting name. But, I don’t think that was done on purpose. Dior Poison Eau de Toilette embodies a scent profile of tuberose, amber, honey, berries, and spice. Pinkvilla says this fragrance is long lasting and perfect for special occasions. Their reviewers also appreciate the beautiful packaging and femininity that exudes from this scent.

Enthusiasts of Dior Poison tend to be connoisseurs of distinctive and intense aromas, valuing depth and complexity in their fragrance choices. To give you an idea of the boldness of this scent and its wearers, Madonna has been known to rock Poison. Perfume says it is a “scented weapon of seduction” perfect for a night of dancing and romancing.

5. Joy

Dior Joy Eau de Parfum

If you are a fan of Jennifer Lawrence, you might just be a fan of Dior Joy, too. It launched in 2018 with the lovable actress as the face of the campaign. You can expect both floral and citrus notes, with a hint of wood and musk.

Choosing the best Dior perfume is like selecting a piece of art that resonates with your soul. Joy was the first new perfume from Dior since 1999 and was created by François Demachy, one of Dior’s House Perfumers at the time. Everfumed describes this scent as vibrant and romantic with a scent and bottle that “captures the essence of light.”

The elegance of Dior Joy makes it a go-to choice for those who appreciate the finer things in life. “If it’s the comfort that you’re in search of, a mind in harmony that you yearn for, the Joy by Dior is perfect for you,” shares VPerfume.

  1. For you to be someone that supposedly knows about the topic you are writing about, you should help to educate people about that topic… they are NOT colognes, men don’t wear colognes, men wear perfumes or fragances. To call it colognes because that’s what “men wear” is just reinforcing the ignorance on people and as a writer you need to debunk that.

  2. As a lifelong resident of Colorado Springs, I can say that the picture which the caption claims is Garden of the Gods Road is not Garden of the Gods Road. Not only is this not a trail, not the busy commercial street mentioned, the picture of this trail is also taken from a vantage point miles to the east and quite a ways further north. Pretty picture and a great named street, but the picture could just be called, “Pikes Peak as seen from some random trail in Colorado Springs.” Not catchy, but accurate.

  3. So disappointed that Dioressence and Diorissimo are not chosen in the top five. In my opinion both fragrances are exquisite.
