The List: Best Golf Balls, According to the Experts

1. Titleist Pro V1 Golf Balls

After doing the research and combing through various websites, the obvious choice for the best golf balls is the Titleist Pro V1. The Titleist Pro V1 was the clear choice for several reasons.

The Titleist Pro V1 golf ball is our best on-test model at the moment. With its biennial upgrade, the design got several significant changes made to it, such as the new reformulated 2.0 ZG Process Core which was implemented with more distance in mind,” writes Golf Monthly.

The Titleist Pro V1 golf balls offer golf enthusiasts a lot to be excited about. From longer drives to sharper grip around the green, these balls have proven time and again why they’re the best golf balls available today. “Off the tee and from the fairway with longer clubs, golfers can expect the new Pro V1 to boost ball speed and fly slightly higher. Around the greens, the softer cover can be grabbed by the grooves in wedges and short irons more easily, resulting in more spin and control,” Golfweek adds.

The folks at Golfweek aren’t the only ones excited about the Titleist Pro V1 golf balls. The Pro V1 and its sister model the Pro V1x recently received some much-needed upgrades. “The new dimple patterns on the Pro V1 and Pro V1x are the first update in more than a decade, but they work better because of other performance enhancements throughout both balls. That includes new manufacturing processes for the core and a more resilient mantle layer,” explains Golf Digest.

2. Callaway Chrome Soft Golf Balls

One feature every golfer is looking for in a golf ball is more distance off the tee. The thin and durable covers of the Callaway Chrome Soft golf balls offer just that – more distance.

“The larger core is designed to attain explosive distance while it produces an elevated launch and low swing speed,” says Sports Illustrated. “The slimmer solid external core, on the other hand, is made to prop up its strength and durability.”

Experts agree that the Callaway Chrome Soft golf balls must be included in the discussion of the best golf balls available on the market today. This is mostly due to new design features. “Any list of the best golf balls cannot go without the Chrome Soft from Callaway. Billed as a model that will suit all levels of player, Callaway says it has enhanced every component and design feature in the Chrome Soft and one such example is the new ‘Elastic SoftFast Core’,” writes Golf Monthly

The Callaway Chrome Soft golf balls were definitely in contention for the number one spot on the list. Callaway’s touted Precision Technology is a major reason why these are some of the best golf balls to use regardless of your skill level. “The standout technology of the new Chrome Soft is Callaway’s Precision Technology. This allows ultra-precise design manufacturing down to 1/1000 of an inch, resulting in faster ball speed, tighter dispersions, and better overall performance,” explains Golfstead.com

3. Vice Pro Golf Balls

A relatively new brand in golf, the Vice Pro and Vice Pro Plus family of golf balls have made quite an impression on golfers around the world. Vice Pro golf balls are known for their colorful, artful ball covers and their one-of-a-kind “drip” paint pattern.

“Each model is designed to optimize distance, spin and feel for three swing-speed groups through distinct constructions, including dual mantles on the Pro Plus,” Golf Digest states

The Vice Pro golf balls are one of the best golf balls for those of you with high swing speeds. “Designed for golfers with the highest swing speeds in the game (110+ mph, ~95 compression), the Pro Plus delivers a lower launch with lower spin for the industry’s longest, most penetrating ball flight,” says Golfstead.com. “It also provides a premium, soft feel around the greens with a high level of short game spin.”

When it comes to competitive pricing combined with performance, Vice Pro golf balls are near the top of their class. “The pro launch ensures a greater ball speed, high-rise trajectory, and excellent distance on the course, particularly for those golfers with average and above-average spin rates. And, guess what? You get all this for a super competitive price point!” Sports Illustrated exclaims.

4. Taylormade TP5

If you’re a more experienced golfer with a fairly decent swing speed, then the Taylormade TP5 golf balls are made just for you. Taylormade TP5 golf balls offer more compression for increased distance and increased launch control.

The TP5 is a complex ball that is packed with performance technologies,” writes Golfstead.com. “The TP5 provides excellent tee-to-green performance that includes fast ball speeds off the driver, a mid-high launch, medium iron spin, and high spin with wedges.”

One of the features that make the Taylormade TP5 one of the best golf balls available is the reimagined dimple pattern. “To improve aerodynamics, TaylorMade developed what it calls a Tour Flight Dimple Pattern. To the naked eye, the dimples look the same, but in reality, they are shallower and the walls of the dimples are steeper. Those may not seem like meaningful details, but TaylorMade said that as the ball rises off the tee, the shallower dimples reduce drag for increased speed,” Golfweek explains.

The Taylormade TP5 golf balls offer golfers the perfect combination of distance and spin, making it a favorite among tour players and weekend golf enthusiasts alike. Golf Monthly writes, “On testing, it was found to offer exactly that. Distance off the tee was never an issue, while approaching greens it was very workable with an iron in hand. Flighting shots high and low has rarely been easier.”

5. Bridgestone e6

Rounding our list of the best golf balls on the market today is the Bridgestone e6 golf balls. Bridgestone has long been a household name in golf and its e6 line of balls is helping to solidify it as a staple in golf bags around the globe.

Loved by amateurs and professional players alike, The Bridgestone e6 golf balls are known for their incredible softness, which feels good on the greens and provides enhanced control over your shots,” writes Sports Illustrated

The control offered by the Bridgestone e6 golf balls can be felt across a variety of shots from anywhere on the golf course, making it ideal for beginners or players with low to moderate swing speed. “The e6 does not produce much spin off the tee. That should not only help moderate-swinging players get more distance, but it should also help to reduce sidespin that results in hooks and slices, so the ball flies straighter,” Golfweek explains.

“Increasing the core size while also making the core softer makes the new e6 easier to compress. This easier compression boosts distance but might get squirrelly for faster swing speed players,” Independent Golf Reviews states

Comments

  1. I did a stability test several years back. I took 10 different ball makes and put a stripe on each one. Using a stimpmeter I rolled each ball and measured the point where the ball began to roll ” off center” . The Bridgestone Tour B RSX rolled the farthest before it began to ” wobble”. Hence it proved to be the best ball rolling on the greens. Ball stability on the greens is most important to making putts in my estimation.

  2. Been playing the Bridgestone e6 for five years now. Sure, there may be better balls, but the difference isn’t worth the price. The e6 is absolutely the best value vs quality ball on the market.

  3. The Snell ball is so much better than the Vice ball. I have played them both, a 5 Hdicap, and Snell should be 3 on the list. The TP5 is rated way to high as it takes a higher swing speed to control. I don’t think you did your homework on this one!

  4. There are. Plenty of used pro v1 on Facebook marketplace at very reasonable prices. Use local pick up. Balls shipped to you are usually golf pond balls. Not good
