I live in mesquite.
Just moved to the northeast from Summerlin. Been living in Summerlin for 30 years. It USED to be fabulous, the best place in the state. Not any more. Crime is rampant. We got a ring camera & for the last two years ( way worse the last year) criminals roam at night where it used to be safe. They break into any & all cars, break into homes, camp out on your porch, try your front door to see if it’s unlocked, steal cars. Graffiti, drugs being sold at our beautiful lakes (in the Lakes part of Summerlin). Can’t walk your dog once it’s dark out, can’t take a stroll after dinner. We sold our beautiful home & got out. Bad guys have broken into retirees homes, shot the owners, more times than I can recite. Dogs stolen from yards! On and on. It’s a horrible world right now in beautiful Summerlin.
Everyone has their reality. Summerlin is not a crime ridden city. Yes, there are occasion events just as all cities. If you live in a gated community, as most do in Summerlin, your cars and property are safe. We moved here from Malibu and love all the great restaurants, and access to great shows at the Smit Center. With new sports teams, living 20 minutes from World Class entertainment is a major plus. It’s now one of the greatest cities in the USA!
Top 5 “Communities” in Nevada? I didn’t realize there were more than 5 to choose from?
Reno is a great place to live but understand, we’re in the mountains. I got about 3 inches of snow yesterday, 5/2/23. Don’t consider moving here if driving in snow is an issue for you. And don’t move here expecting the roads will be plowed. That no state income tax comes with reduced services. Ain’t nothing in life is free.
