Best Star Wars LEGO Sets: Top 5 Intergalactic Kits Most Recommended By Fans

Since 1949, The LEGO Group has been manufacturing tiny interlocking toy bricks that have since taken over the world of toys and memorabilia. LEGO partnered with “Star Wars” in 1999 to create what would become one of the brand’s most successful themes. Originally having a licensing contract that was only to last nine years, 24 years later, the duo is still manufacturing toys, games, films, and even a TV series. From minifigures to construction sets, there are endless amounts of LEGO “Star Wars” merchandise available at your fingertips, so much so your choices can be almost overwhelming. Have no fear, as we at StudyFinds have taken this opportunity to find out what some of the best “Star Wars” LEGO sets on the market are. From the iconic Millennium Falcon to the ever-popular cantina, these sets not only capture the essence of the beloved franchise but also provide hours of entertainment and satisfaction during the building process. Whether you’re a seasoned collector or just starting your LEGO “Star Wars” journey, these sets are sure to ignite your imagination and transport you to a galaxy far, far away.

LEGOS are a great way to bond with young ones in the house, and the experience can even leave a lasting impression. Early interactions between parents and their children are critical in shaping physical and mental development. While most research focuses on mothers and their kids, a new study suggests that father-child playtime may enhance a child’s ability to regulate their emotions and behavior later in life. Researchers at the University of Cambridge and the LEGO Foundation reviewed 78 studies examining the frequency and characteristics of play between fathers and their children. The study had multiple major findings, but the biggest one was that father-child play improved emotional and behavioral outcomes, resulting in less hyperactivity and fewer emotional and behavioral problems, most likely due to playtime with fathers revolving around more physical than mental play.

However, mental play is just as important when developing a child’s life skills. Preparing preschoolers for kindergarten can be a source of fear and excitement among young parents, and new research shows that one brain-boosting building block to school readiness is semi-structured block play. Researchers at Purdue University say that preschool children who spend time in semi-structured block play experience improvement in two important skills for their jump to kindergarten: mathematics and executive functioning. By engaging in playing with building blocks, or in this case, LEGOS, young children are able to work on such skills as spatial awareness, problem-solving, and decision-making.

Though some of the LEGO sets on the following list may be a bit challenging for really young kiddos, it’s never too early to start teaching, especially when “Star Wars” is involved. As always, we at StudyFinds have researched across multiple expert sources to bring you today’s list of the best “Star Wars” LEGO sets available. Don’t agree with our list? The List: Best “Star Wars” LEGO Sets, According to Experts

1. Venator-Class Republic Attack Cruiser

First up is the ultimate hot item when it comes to “Star Wars” LEGO sets this year: The Venator-Class Republic Attack Cruiser. “One of the most anticipated sets by collectors for years. Allegedly releasing in October with a whopping 5,374 piece count, UCS Venator-class Star Destroyer (75367) will certainly put the pressure on ‘Star Wars’ and LEGO fans’ wallets…However, the set is going to be massive and highly detailed, just like all of LEGO’s past UCS sets,” says ScreenRant.

“Seen an almost innumerable amount of times throughout the Prequel Trilogy era and especially in ‘The Clone Wars’ animated series, when a Venator-class Republic Attack Cruiser dropped out of hyperspace, fans knew the cavalry had well and truly arrived,” writes The Direct.

“At 5,374 pieces and 43 inches (109cm) in length, the Ultimate Collector Series (UCS) Venator is one of the biggest ‘Star Wars’ LEGO sets around, and…it’s one of the most expensive too – but that hasn’t stopped ‘Star Wars’ LEGO enthusiasts gleefully plotting the best ways to get their hands on one, ever since it first appeared in a Kuala Lumpur airport LEGO store in early September 2023,” explains War Gamer.

2. Millennium Falcon

Next up may be a classic, but the USC Millennium Falcon is also a huge undertaking. While the non-Ultimate Collectors Series is also a popular choice, especially for younger people, this version won out for our ranking. “The LEGO Millennium Falcon from the Ultimate Collector Series is the most expensive and one of the biggest LEGO sets in existence. This is not only due to its size but also the incredible detailing that has gone into it. It is safe to say that there is no LEGO set quite like this one,” states The Gamer.

“Let’s address the bantha in the room for a second – this kit is wince-inducingly expensive. It will also take you days to build. However, the Ultimate Collector Millennium Falcon also happens to be one of the best LEGO ‘Star Wars’ sets bar none. Even though it’s a magnificent model, be warned – this isn’t a project for the faint of heart. However, it’s a gratifying process despite being so overwhelming. There’s a real sense of achievement at the end of it all, and the clever engineering behind it helps the UCS Millennium Falcon shine from start to finish,” describes GamesRadar.

“You know a set is going to be impressive when the LEGO Store was recommending that people take it home using wheels rather than carry it. At the time, the UCS Millennium Falcon was the biggest set ever released. While LEGO Millennium Falcons have impressed in the past with their detail, seeing this thing next to one of the lower-cost models makes it look tiny in comparison. If you’ve got enough room to display this thing and trust us, you might need to clear the spare room to do so; it’s a must-buy,” raves Space.

3. Mos Eisley Cantina

Third on our list is an original trilogy classic, Mos Eisley Cantina. With this set, you’ll be sure to have your Han Solo minifigure shoot first. “A ‘wretched hive of scum and villainy’ indeed. This recreation of an iconic movie scene—a testament to the power of practical special effects, costuming, and makeup—is wonderful and comes up with a whopping 21 mini-figures, including three members of the Cantina band, Greedo, Ponda Baba, the iconic bar patrons, and a massive Dewback that’s hunting for two droids,” reports IGN.

“Few Lego ‘Star Wars’ sets are as impressive in size and scope as LEGO ‘Star Wars’ Mos Eisley Cantina. This gargantuan set really gives you a sense of the scale of the Mos Eisley Cantina, the Tatooine tavern that we were first introduced to in ‘A New Hope.’ The set opens up to reveal a full interior inside, complete with seating booths, a well-stocked bar, and outside space to dock your landspeeder or Dewback,” comments Space.

“The cantina scene on Mos Eisley is arguably the turning point of the original ‘Star Wars’ film, and this Lego set captures it perfectly. Once constructed, the cantina can either be closed (which is how it appears when Luke and Obi-Wan first land) or opened up to reveal all the seedy characters inside. We like the fact that this LEGO set is dynamic, even if it isn’t as grand as the Death Star. Smaller elements, like the inclusion of the spacecraft Luke and Obi-Wan take to get to the cantina, are especially cool,” adds Futurism.

4. Republic Gunship

Fourth on today’s ranking is the USC Republic Gunship. While the prequel series may not be everyone’s cup of tea, one must admire the beauty of this specific set. “Recreate the epic Battle of Geonosis with this epic build-and-display model of a Republic Gunship, also known as a Low Altitude Assault Transport,” notes the New York Post.

“Look, the prequel trilogy… wasn’t great, but what was great about it was the sheer number of cool new ship designs it introduced. One of the most iconic from ‘Attack of the Clones’ is the Republic Gunship, and with LEGO finally giving the prequel trilogy some love, you can bring it home,” says Space.

“Build the Republic Gunship with two pilot cockpits, swing-out spherical gun turrets, two cannons, long wings and opening sides, and a rear hatch. It comes with a display stand that has an information plaque and spaces for two minifigures: the blaster-equipped Clone Trooper Commander and the lightsaber-wielding Mace Windu,” writes CBS News.

5. Luke Skywalker’s X-Wing Fighter

Last but certainly not least amongst people’s favorites (and also a favorite of your wallet) is Luke’s X-Wing Fighter! Always a favorite and a classic among “Star Wars” fans and collectors, “One of the first ‘Star Wars’ LEGO sets that was ever put out was an X-Wing. This iconic ship is always good in a dogfight, especially when someone like Luke Skywalker or Wedge Antilles is behind the controls,” explains The Direct.

“Taking out a planet-destroying artificial moon is no easy task, but the rebels managed to do so thanks to the X-Wings in ‘Star Wars: A New Hope.’ This set comes with Luke Skywalker’s own fighter and minifigures of Luke, Leia, R2-D2, and General Dodonna. Original trilogy fans will love this one, especially since it’s not as expensive as most other sets,” adds The Gamer.

“The first LEGO X-Wing has a history dating back to 1999 as part of the very first ‘Star Wars‘ wave. It may seem lacking in detail and realism compared to many of today’s sets. At the time, however, the set was a dream come true — LEGO finally producing a ship fans had been building with their spare bricks for decades,” concludes CBR.
