Architectural Marvel in Surprising City Set to Become Tallest U.S. Building

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. — The tallest building in the United States is set to take to the sky — in Oklahoma.

Developers have submitted revised plans for a tower in The Boardwalk at Bricktown project, proposing a height of 1,907 feet (581 meters). If completed, this building in Oklahoma City would become the fifth tallest in the world.

Originally, the architecture firm AO and the real estate investment and development company Matteson Capital planned to make it the second-tallest building in America. However, the revised height of 1,907 feet symbolically honors the year 1907, when Oklahoma was admitted as the 46th state of the United States.

The development includes three towers, each reaching a height of 345 feet (105 meters), and a fourth, taller tower called Legends Tower. The upper floors of Legends Tower will feature a public observatory, restaurant, and bar, offering panoramic views of the city.

Spanning approximately five million square feet, this mixed-use project will incorporate Hyatt hotels, serviced condominiums, and 1,776 residential units. These units will cater to a range of budgets, including market-rate, affordable workforce, and luxury options.

Additionally, a retail and restaurant area is planned, providing over 110,000 square feet of space for commercial, food, and beverage use.

“Oklahoma City is experiencing a significant period of growth and transformation, making it well-positioned to support large-scale projects like the one envisioned for Bricktown,” says Scot Matteson, CEO of Matteson Capital, according to a statement from SWNS.

“We believe that this development will be an iconic destination for the city, further driving the expansion and diversification of the growing economy, drawing in investment, new businesses, and jobs. It’s a dynamic environment and we hope to see The Boardwalk at Bricktown stand as the pride of Oklahoma City.”

“We are excited to embark upon this pivotal undertaking with a carefully assembled team of talented and experienced architects and designers from within our ranks,” adds Rob Budetti, the AO managing partner.

“Crafting a project of this significance is an honor, and the collaborative process with the City, Matteson Capital, Hensel Phelps, and a top-notch team of engineers, consultants, and development partners has been exceptional. Managing the intricacies of such a project, ensuring seamless integration of all components, is a significant challenge. Fortunately, this aligns with one of AO’s core strengths.”
