Next stop, heaven? 2 in 3 people say they’re not afraid of what happens after death

SHEFFIELD, United Kingdom — Is there really an afterlife? While most people think humans will never be able to prove what happens after death, half of adults still believe their spirit lives on — somewhere.

The new survey of over 1,000 people in the United Kingdom, commissioned by SpiritShack Ltd, finds 50 percent of respondents believe in an afterlife. Of this group, 60 percent believe everyone experiences the same thing when they die — regardless of their individual beliefs. However, two in three believe scientists will never be able to tell us what really happens when someone passes.

Regardless of whether people think they’re going to heaven (55%) or worry their life choices could end up sending them to hell (58%), the poll finds 68 percent of all respondents have no fear of what comes next. However, 69 percent would rather live another life after leaving this one instead of simply seeing their existence end.

As for what people think heaven or hell may be like, 28 percent say their religion has shaped their opinions, while another 23 percent say a personal experience with death molded their views. Overall, one in four think people go to heaven or hell, 16 percent believe they’ll exist in a “spiritual realm,” and 16 percent believe in reincarnation.

All dogs go to heaven

No matter where we go after death, it’s safe to stay many people hope to reunite with loved ones from this life. Unsurprisingly, that also includes giving our furry friends one more hug!

Nearly half the poll (45%) believe their pets end up in the same place they do when we all die. Two in five think they’ll reunite with their pets in the afterlife. Interestingly, most respondents added that they believe their pets come back through reincarnation — even though only one in six say the same about humans.

For those who can’t wait to reunite with their loved ones, one in three admit they’ve tried to contact the dead. More than two in five people claim they’ve felt the presence of a dead relative and 30 percent think it’s possible to communicate with these people.

Among those trying to contact the dead, 52 percent have had a medium help them, 33 percent have turned to prayer, and 18 percent have broken out the Ouija board. One in five people say they’d pay over $1,300 to talk to a dead relative again.

Going to a better place?

No matter what happens after death, respondents are confident it’ll actually be an improvement over their current life. The poll finds adults think heaven provides people with a chance to recapture the things they’ve lost throughout their life.

The vast majority (86%) think the afterlife involves a sense of peace and 66 percent describe it as a place of happiness. Three in five adults believe there will be no more suffering when they die.

However, respondents think there are a few conditions people need to follow in order to reach this peaceful realm. Over four in five people (84%) say you have to live a good life and be a generally good person to reach heaven. One in three claim you have to place your faith in a higher power to reach the afterlife and one in five say it requires you to confess all your sins.

  1. Jesus said: “In my Father’s house there are many mansions. If it were not so, I would have told you.” Jesus was referring to the mansion worlds where those who spiritually survive go after death. These worlds are described in detail in The Urantia Book, the 2,097-page revelation of 196 Papers authored by celestial beings in 1934-35 and published in 1955. Urantia is Earth. Part IV of the book is an year-by-year narration of the life and teachings of Jesus.

    1. The only way to heaven is through a belief and to follow Jesus. The only way to God is through his son Jesus. It is so simple. Yet so misunderstood. When you offer your soul to Jesus he offers something in return, it is the Holy Spirit (the comforter) that he places inside your heart, without the holy spirit inside you can not enter the Kingdom of Heaven. Why? It is the Holy spirit that carries you up to God/Heaven. The only sin that will keep you out of heaven is to “Blaspheme the Holy Spirit” it means to reject him. To receive him is the “Good News” that you will live forever with God in Heaven without tears or death ever again. Accept him now don’t wait for the rapture is coming when you least expect it like a thief in the night.

      1. You make such a very important issue “so simple” because there is nothing there to even understand. Words mean something: 1) you say “a belief and follow Jesus,” but what on earth does this even mean? I’ve asked people things like this before, and their answer is, “Well, if you don’t believe, or have the spirit, you can’t understand.” Please. 2) “When you offer your soul to Jesus”: Can you give me a ballpark scenario of what this looks like? How do you identify your soul, and what does the process of giving it to Jesus look like? I’m really trying to understand here.

      2. The Bible says if you confess with your mouth Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart God raised him from the dead you will be saved.Cofess you are a sinner ,repent from it and ask Jesus to take over your life. Then Talk to him each day. Listen as well he will put thoughts in your mind as well as give you peace and joy.

      3. Repent and believe the gospel. Repent means to change one’s mind. From self to God. Watch a video about it here and I’ll pray the the Law of God brings you to place your TRUST in the Lord Jesus, the Son of God.

Lord may Dave be convicted by your Spirit of his condition that he may see your love that was displayed on the cross.

      4. Christianity isn’t complicated. Grace is a GIFT from God that all you have to do is accept. People spend their lives trying to “earn” their way to heaven, and yet that doesn’t do anything according to the Bible. You simply have to accept that Jesus is the Son of God, that he died for your sins, and that you “give your life” simply meaning you live a life like Jesus – not full of hate, but full of love, acceptance, no one who judges others. I find it always funny those that says Christians hate gays, or others who don’t believe like them – the fact is that is a Chirstian hates an individual, they actually are not living a Christian life. The Bible is very clear that it is our job to love and accept others as they are and let GOD judge and work on those through His holy spirit. Again, this is a Gift, all you have to do is accept it. Christianity isn’t difficult.

      5. It means “give ten percent of your money to the preacher who is threatening you with eternal damnation.” Nothing more. It’s a shakedown.

In 2 Thessalonians 3:10, the Bible literally forbids preaching for money, that you WORK or don’t eat, that freeloading preachers are busybodies who should starve if they don’t fix a fence or help plant a crop. These religious shysters have flipped it around to mean Jesus hates socialism, when the passage clearly shows freeloading preachers are the target of this verse.

American Christianity has become a religious version of Hunger Games, where you were once perfect, but are now cast down from God’s presence into this world to prove yourself worthy to come back to Heaven through ritual and promises. It’s a sick, adolescent game where cash extraction is at the core of everything.

        Amen, and Amen.

      6. Actually Christians don’t give money to the church… we give money THROUGH the church.

The God of this universe doesn’t need my money. He doesn’t need anything. What he wants is for me to believe Him, to trust that he will do exactly what he says he’ll do every time.

Someone once said “tis no fool who gives up what he can’t keep to gain what he can’t lose. “

      7. I’ll try to clarify this for you.
        A. All human beings are sinners – i.e. we have all broken all of God’s Commandments many times over.
        1. Have no other gods before me. (Put nothing before God)
        2. Don’t make an idol and worship it. (anything we worship or “love” that comes
        between us and God)
        3. Don’t take the name of the Lord in vain. (not giving it proper reverence and
        respect)
        4. Remember the Sabbath and keep it holy. (Keeping a day of rest – dedicated to
        the Lord – each week)
        5. Honor your father and mother.
        6. Do not murder. (Jesus said if we hate our brother we have already committed
        murder in our hearts)
        7. Do not commit adultery. (Jesus said if we look with lust we have already
        committed adultery in our hearts)
        8. Do not steal. (anything, a penny, a piece of gum, a music download, etc.)
        9. Do not bear false witness. (Don’t lie)
        10. Do not covet. (Don’t strongly desire someone else’s things – what is theirs –
        material or individual.)

By breaking God’s Law we have earned our punishment. Hell is the penalty for our sins against God and man. God is Good, Perfect, Holy, Righteous, without sin, and MUST punish sin in order to be Good and a Just God. Hitler, Pol Pot, Stalin, etc., must be punished, but so also do we. Our sin is no less serious, rebellious and deadly to a Holy and Perfect God.

Since we are flawed, corrupt and sinful human beings we cannot work to earn or ever deserve to be saved from the penalty we owe to a Holy God for the sins we have committed, we require a Savior.

When Moses led the Jews out of Egypt the people were commanded to sacrifice a lamb and put its blood on the doorposts of their homes so that the destroyer (the 10th plague) would pass over them. This was called the Passover, the reason Jewish people celebrate it today. Jesus is the world’s Passover Lamb. The Lamb of God. His blood covers us so that we are passed over by eternal death.

Jesus paid our debt and died in our place, He paid the penalty for the sins of the world, once for all time, and if we repent; meaning we turn away from our sins (stop doing what we know to be wrong – with God’s help) and agree with God that we are guilty and deserve our punishment and we put our faith and trust in Jesus for our forgiveness and salvation, Who completed the work for our salvation on the cross – paying the penalty for our sins “in full” – we receive His mercy and are forgiven on His account, because of what He did for us, not because we are good, or righteous, but because our sins are covered by the blood He shed for us. The Holy Spirit of God will from then on indwell us, living within us and we are spiritually reborn (“Born again”) as new creations in Christ. From that point on our sins have been forgiven (once for all time) and we will live under the Spirit of the Law of God, not the letter, and our remaining time here will be for sanctification – to prepare us for eternal life in God’s Kingdom, and to share the Gospel (Good News that we can have forgiveness of sins as a Gift of Grace from God by faith in Jesus Christ) with any who will hear it from us.

I sincerely hope this wasn’t confusing.

      8. Believe in the Bible means trust and depend. Repent means change your mind- what are trusting to get you to heaven? Good works- wont work- membership in a church. Repent is better explained as turning. Turn from your own efforts and tur only to the finished work of Jesus Christ (who is and was God in the flesh). God loves all people bu All men are sinners. Sin requires jusgement. Jesus suffered that jusgement for us on the cross being Gods perfect sacrifice. That does not mean we are all going to heaven but rather it is check made out to all men- all you have to do is cash the check- tell God/Jesus: I am a sinner, save me. I turn from my own works to your work on the cross for me. Please save me and take me to heaven when i die.

Its really that simple but pride keeps us from trusting in him and him alone- Bible says “ believe (trust and depend only on) the Lord Jesus Christ and u will be saved.

    2. My father in law was into Urantia and I have the Urantia Book. I have recently fell into the writings of Swedenborg and have spent a LOT of time researching the early Christian writings. Who decided on which books to add, etc. There was a lot of power struggles and politics into who won the day to place what in the Christian Bible. I’ve concluded that many if not most of my Christian brethren are like sheep, they follow the pastors without thought. Pastors that know the translation from Greek to other languages is a problem and the preachers preach what they were taught. So if the teachers are wrong, confused, etc. then the students end up being the same.

Christianity today is a self-centered, ego driven world and I blame Luther and his by Grace alone idea. So now you spin the wheel, you say the prayer of acceptance and you can continue being the despicable, rip off artist that you were except now you can boldly testify that you are saved. Then there are prosperity preachers. Give me a dollar and you’ll get back $2. Church is now a casino???

Breaking the doctrine and dogma is impossible. The love of God is lost in all of it. God loves you but oh — you’re a jew — you’re going to hell. That’s love? So to the Christian world it is “THEY” and only “THEY” who have the answer. That is what I mean by self-centered, ego. They present a scenerio that 90% of the worlds population goes to hell. Well, how many know that Hell was translated from Gehenna which was a real place. It was used as a parables or a figure of speech. You point out that in the Bible Jesus tells his disciples up until now I have spoke in parables. But — they all the crew wants to use their faith in a bag to beat up Gods people. If we are to take things literally then we should be stoning people, the earth should be considered flat, etc.

Revelation? There were about 9 different Gospels of Revelation and the one chose for the Bible is the scary one. Why? Possibly because the people in first century that were being tortured and killed, they wanted revenge upon the oppressors. Protestants? How many know that Luther didn’t even want Revelation or James (and others) in his Bible. Why? Because those books didn’t square up with what he was presenting. It took 30 years and once Luther figured out he could use Revelation as a weapon against the Catholic Church, he changed his mind on Revelation.

As a modern Christian and they’ll blather back a verse, sounding like a code that they themselves don’t or can’t understand. Do babies go to heaven and you’ll get one answer from a preacher saying “to enter heaven you must be baptized” and another will give a verse saying of course babies go to heaven. Did Jesus die on the cross. Just yesterday on Easter I was reading that there are preachers that say “his spirit didn’t die” others say “his spirit had to die so he knew death.”

And you think Christians are ever, ever, ever going to accept that God is rather easy to take and heaven is an easy thing to understand. Ha! No way! The power of ego is too strong.

“In New Testament times, it was a trash dump where Jerusalem’s garbage was deposited and burned. Even the bodies of dead animals and unburied criminals were brought here. One Bible dictionary states, because of the valley’s history, “After the OT period, Jewish apocalyptic writers began to call the Valley of Hinnom the entrance to hell, later hell itself.” The Greek word gehenna is found 12 times in our New Testament Scriptures—Jesus used the term 11 times, and James used it one time. It is translated “hell” every time. “

      1. “Christianity today is a self-centered, ego driven world and I blame Luther and his by Grace alone idea.”

Martin Luther is the most repressible man to ever utter the name of Christ. He turned on the Jews after they rejected his efforts to evangelize them to Christianity. Read the treatise, “On Jews and Their Lies” he wrote in 1543. It was used by Hitler and the Nazi party to justify their persecution of the Jews.

The Bible teaches that God’s elect are saved by grace, through faith.
(Eph 2:8 KJV) For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: [it is] the gift of God:

Luther taught that saving faith was imparted to the individual by the waters of baptism. Perverted theology.

  2. This is incredibly sad to see how entire generations of people have been lied to (through a combination of deliberate falsehoods, or simply withholding the truth by Church hierarchy) regarding what happens to the vast majority of individuals when their soul leaves their body.

Most of us have gone to funerals where the priest (or presider) promptly consoles everyone into thinking that their loved ones (many of whom led objectively sinful lives) are already enjoying eternal bliss. Nothing could be further from the truth.

The one thing that’s a certainty is this: For the 68% of people who “have no fear of what comes next” – 100% of them will find themselves in Eternal Hell. [I wish that that were not so, but none of us sets the rules of life and death].

      1. because God is the one that is in control, not us. We did not create ourselves, God did. Not everyone is a child of God but everyone was created by God. We are not powerful. The reason why people are put in power is because God put them there. They could not have power over Christ if it was given to them. John 19:11 Jesus answered, Thou couldest have no power at all against me, except it were given thee from above: therefore he that delivered me unto thee hath the greater sin.” Today can be the day of your salvation if haven’t believed on Christ: John 3:16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. 1Corinthians 15:3-4: Christ died for our sins according to the scripture and He was buried and He rose again the third day according to the scripture. Once you believe on Christ you will be saved sealed until the day of redemption. You will never be plucked from the Father’s hand nor out of Jesus hand, Jesus and the Father are one. Justified sanctified and glorified. John 14:6 I am the way, truth and the life no man cometh unto the Father but by me. The only way for someone to be saved is just to believe in Christ, not confessing, repenting or turning from sins, only believing. Repenting, confessing, turning from sins is a work and we are not saved by works. Ephesians 2:8-9: For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. Being a good person or doing good deeds will not get us in heaven. Romans 3:10: As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one.

      2. SC: I teach writing and composition, and I always stress to my students that the reader will not know what you mean if you stick with abstract terms–people need examples and illustrations to comprehend such terms (for example, “justice”). If your beliefs and your conviction to spread them to others are obviously so important, then I can conclude that it would be a great dis-service to God’s plan to communicate these life and death / heaven and hell pronouncements inaccurately (and you have in fact committed yourself through your post as a communicator of God’s message to us). There are two terms in your post that are crucial to your witness, but must be more carefully explained, or it the whole thing means nothing, or worse, confuses people about God’s purpose. Not trying to be disresepctful here–it’s just that I’ve run across too many Christians who base everything on these terms, but simply cannot explain the fundamental terms of their own convictions.
What does “believe in Christ” mean. I mean, what does that look like? (A thought experiment: replace the word “Christ” with “Zeus” if that will help you clarify things).
        Same with “righteous.”
If the Bible is the word(s) or God, then everything depends on a clear understanding of crucial ones like those above.

      3. I think your concerns are valid Dave. I hope my previous response helps. To further clarify my two abstract terms repent and gospel. Well I’ve explained repent, but not gospel. Gospel is the good news. The good news is that while we (all) were sinners, GOD sent His Son, Jesus who lived a perfect obedient life unto the FATHER, was sacrificed as a lamb without spot or blemish and took the punishment for our sins…eternal conscious torment in the lake of fire. Jesus is our passover. We broke God’s Law, but Jeuss paid the fine. Now that He has done that in return we lay our lives down for Him. We obey and grow into full spiritual maturity.

      4. Jesus said u must be born again. Essentially, he was saying you have to be born of flesh and of the Spirit to be saved. If you are only born once You have to die twice. It’s Important to think of death as separation. The first death separation of the soul from the body. The second death is separation from God forever. We’re all gonna die. However, Jesus suffered that second death On the cross for all of us when he said: My God My God why hast thou forsaken me? Jesus suffered that separation so we wouldn’t have to. But that doesn’t mean that we’re all going to heaven. We each must accept that payment personally By simply reaching out to God- just pray this prayer and mean it- God, I am a sinner. Please save me. I turn from all my own efforts to save myself. I am trusting you and only you to save me. I accept your payment my sin. Thank you for saving me and take me to heaven when i die

    1. “…none of us sets the rules of life and death…”
So interesting that you said it like that. So your god of love sets the rules that says he will send most of his children to eternal torment. That doesn’t sound like a god of love worth worship or even respect. Why send his kids to forever torment? Why not just destroy the rebellious souls and be done with it? Why torment them forever if your god is not a sadist? Don’t bring up free will. There’s no free will if I pull a gun on you and tell you, “Do whatever you want to do. If I don’t like it, I’m going to shoot you.” That is not free will. Plus, both neurology and physics have disproven the existence of free will. If God is playing chess, the playing pieces have no free will. If he has no presence in the real world and withholds his goodwill, he’s not a god worth worship.

      1. Interesting that you disprove your own argument about not having free will by ending with “he is not a god worthy of worship”. You are showing free will by making such a statement.

    2. More religious bigotry where you and your god get to decide everyone who isn’t on board with your bu11sh|t theology goes to hell. How about you do some theological study about heaven and hell by actual scholars.

    3. Or, potentially, you’re the one who is wrong and everything you’ve been told about Christian theology beyond it simply being a decent moral philosophy to live by was created by man and exploited by governments and organizations throughout history to manipulate the masses to various ends.

Be wary of any who are so indoctrinated into their religion or patriotism that they can not see viable alternatives, for they are innately exclusive and only grow in arrogance as they surround themselves with like-minded individuals.

  3. Falling, burning, screaming, blackness, forever… It’s definitely worth worrying about…

    1. All these concepts were invented and envisioned by people who didn’t know where the sun went at night, or where all that burning stuff spewing out of volcanoes came from, so they invented Heaven as “up there somewhere, and hell as “down there somewhere.”

Childish gibberish. If you really “believed” in God, you’d accept that God invented science to free us all from those idiotic lies, that the ACTUAL truth would set you free from medieval superstitions.

  4. Unfortunately, the Road to Heaven is not scripturely described as being very Wide. But is actually described as being Narrow….unlike what secular culture describes IT as being….Matt. 7:14….

  5. I see no reason to fear what isn’t proven. So this life is the only life you will have, according to all science knows. Will you spend your life fearing what no one can currently prove?
    Not me. Have fun.

    1. If your moral compass – which will determine where and how you spend eternity – is based on what “scientists” think (i.e., people good at maths who spent lots of time living and studying in God-less circles, which solely reward them for embracing the ‘religion’ of evolution)…you’d might as well eat, drink, and be merry here – because it will NEVER get better than it is for you now.

I say this as someone for whom it may also never get better than it is now (for me), but if my eternity is spent in Hell it won’t be because I made no effort whatsoever; it will simply be that I didn’t make enough of an effort.

Flip your view around and look at it from the perspective of this world:

If you want to become a Managing Director of a large corporation, do you think that you’ll achieve that with no credentials, minimal effort, or never going the extra mile? And keep this in mind: If you do all those things and are ultimately successful at that goal, how long, in reality, will you keep that role (and the prestige and money that goes along with it)? Ten years, maybe twenty?

To compare one grain of sand to all the deserts and beaches on earth is a laughable comparison to how short this life is compared to eternity. So the point is that if you KNOW that you need to make all that effort, etc. to become a well-off, corporate executive in this world…what would make you think that you need to make ZERO effort to be eternally happy – forever?

      1. But we were all already perfect and living in the presence of God before we got here. If you used to be a CEO and you take a sabbatical to refresh yourself, why would you practice being a CEO while on vacation?

This sick game of “obey the preacher’s version of God’s word and give him money” is fleecing sheep, nothing more.

    2. And, what if You/yours lives ultimately are here, if fortunate, for a century, like a parrot or a tortiose, then you like they are done……For we who trust God’s Word, IT is the beginning…not our End!…..Acquire a good study Bible and apply yourself to learning what insight It can provide in understanding this World…..If diligent, and honest you will find understanding that God’s principals Work regardless if a person accepts salvation or Not….They are His Principals…..For ex. “You reap what you Sow”…….. The best to you/yours…

      1. “Study Bible” is forbidden in the Bible itself. Study Bibles add the authors’ own interpretation for the meanings of words and sentences, condemned over nine times in the Bible. “Study Bibles” ignore their own sinfulness to focus on yours. And take your money.

Revelation 22:18-19: I testify to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: if anyone adds to them, God will add to him the plagues which are written in this book; and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God will take away his part from the tree of life and from the holy city, which are written in this book.

        Hard pass.

  6. There is one life choice that can give you confidence about where you will go after this life is over. It is the choice to follow Jesus. If you haven’t already, ask him to forgive you of your sins and to become lord of your life. “The Savior is Waiting”

The Savior is waiting to enter your heart
Why don’t you let Him come in
There’s nothing in this world to keep you apart
What is your answer to Him

Time after time He has waited before
And now He is waiting again
To see if you’re willing to open the door
Oh how He wants to come in

If you’ll take one step toward the Savior, my friend
You’ll find His arms open wide
Receive Him, and all of your darkness will end
    Within your heart He’ll abide

Time after time He has waited before
And now He is waiting again
To see if you’re willing to open the door
Oh how He wants to come in

Oh how He wants to come in

    1. The only way to be saved is just to believe on Christ, on what He has done and not what we can do. John 3:16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. 1 Corinthians 15:3-4 Christ died for our sins according to the scripture and He was buried and rose again the third day according to the scripture. Once we believe on Christ we not only receive salvation but remission of sins. Isaiah 64:6 But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.

      1. That’s false doctrine to say believe in what he has done. You believe in the person, not what he did.

  7. This world is so far from the truth that it amazes me. Jesus said, “I am the way; the truth and the life; no man cometh unto the Father but by me.” John 14:6
The whole message of the Gospel is that God PAID for our sins at the Cross. He took the punishment which every person who ever lived should be getting and offers us forgiveness if we will only BELIEVE.
Most don’t believe because they are believing some other person’s worldview which they simply learned at University or from some other person. Nobody checks it out, I mean, really checks it out and makes an honest INVESTIGATION by reading His written word. It’s abundant in this age and in this country (people are killed for possessing it in other countries) Go get one at the Dollar Tree, only one buck. Read it and ask God if it is truth, I dare you.

    1. Agreed, just stick to a Translation that is trustworthy
Youngs Literal Translation comes to mind

    2. The Bible also provides justification for infanticide in Psalm 137:9 “Blessed shall he be who takes your little ones and dashes them against the rock!” And incest in Genesis 19. It also instructs preachers how to abort an adulterously conceived fetus in Numbers 5:27. Are those passages still valid?

I’ve read the Bible. And every time I re-read it, I find more atrocities alongside good stuff like Jesus’ commandments to love gay people, enemies and immigrants, completely ignored by American Christians.

You still standing by that dare?

  8. “I am the way, the truth and the life, no one comes to the Father except by Me”

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whoever believes it Him should not perish but have everlasting life”

Trust Jesus, and only Jesus now before it’s too late. He died to pay your sin debt in full, was buried, then rose again!

  9. Isaiah 46;9-10……..Only the Christian God (Jesus) can predict the future like He can. Deut 28 predicts the future of the Israel nation for 4000 years in advance (very fascinating)…..Deut 28 predicted the Babylon Captivity, ad70, holocaust, antisemitism, intifada, and Israel’s Golden age under King David+Solomon…….Sinners are punished forever because the terrible consequences of their sins are forever……..we reap what we sow……see also bible-codes.org

  10. You get in to Heaven by accepting what Christ did on the cross for you. He took your sins and gives you His righteousness. It’s not by good works, at all, so put that totally out of your minds. Our works are filthy rags in His sight. If we could save ourselves, then Christ died in vain, right? It’s a free gift. Ask Him for it, ask for forgiveness of your sins. He is ready to forgive you! Yes right now! YOU can be assured of going to that wonderful place and avoiding the horrible one…yes, hell is very much real…. People go there by ignoring Gods free gift…it’s that simple. He made the way, WE need to take it as it’s the only one there is. Jesus is the ONLY way to the Father…..do it today!!!

  11. There is NO way to heaven but through Jesus Christ. Want to know how to get to heaven?

“As it is written, ‘There is none righteous, no, not one.’” (Romans 3:10, KJV)
“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.” (Romans 3:23, KJV)
“For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” (Romans 6:23, KJV)
“But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8, KJV)
“For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” (Romans 10:13, KJV)

  12. I read this article and the associated comments with great interest and I am moved to comment as my experiences are real.
As an Indian 2nd Engineer in a German ship in 1971, my ship caught fire near Capetown. We had liquid explosive bottles on deck covered by a tarp. The flames shot up 20 feet above the funnel-with hot shards falling on the tarp. The fire should have blown us up sky-high! Instead, even after 30 mins. that it took to flood the ship and put it out, nothing happened! Coming to the cabin, I saw why; my portrait of my God, a form of Lord Vishnu that I used to pray daily to, was presiding over it all! No fire could capture us or encircle us-as they were subordinate to Lord Vishnu who maintains life and order! The entire German crew witnessed it and were truly amazed!
Fast forward 50 years-I meditate daily. I have studied the writings of many spiritual gurus, and I feel the peace that envelops us all from God! I am of the firm belief that the truly evil people who feel that they are all=powerful and can inflict massive pain on the human race that has killed millions-like Hitler, Pol Pot, Mao, Stalin etc- will move to a special hell where they will pay for their sins by being painfully tortured by demonic guards and will live several generations through the bottom of the animal kingdom before they graduate to a human state-to pay for their sins that they gratuitously committed on the human race. They will go through the cycle of life and death through many cycles before their bad karma is extinguished and they become normal human beings. This is the Ultimate Truth and all living beings will be wise to spend the reast of their lives caring for one and all, spreading true kindness and offering a helping hand to those in need! Treat others as they wish to be treated-as the time is near when they will probably need the same charitable outlook in their next births that is surely coming!!
May the Good Lord bless us all-and give us the vision to conduct our lives designed to spread peace and harmony throughout the world!!

  13. Addition to previous comment: I had mentioned Lord Vishnu as my God in my previous comment. Lord Vishnu is a Hindu God. You are free to follow any God of your religion: the Father of Jesus Christ as the saviour of Christians or any God of your choosing. Let your choice bring you to truly blessed ways of charity, faith and compassion for all!! Ramesh Rama.

  14. If you believe in Jesus Christ and what he has done for you on the cross, you have been saved by grace. God tells us in the Bible that this current world is not our home.

God sent His Son to die AS our sin, so that we wouldn’t have to die IN our sin. He went to the devils hell so that we wouldn’t ever have to go. He then raised himself up from the dead three days later,. to show that He would then do so for us when He calls us home. Isn’t that just the most beautiful thing you have ever heard?
John 3:16 says “For God so loved the world (You who is reading this), that He gave His ONLY Begotten Son (Jesus), that Whosoever Believes on Him, will not Perish, but will have everlasting life.”

Please answer His call. He just wants to love you, JUST AS YOU ARE RIGHT NOW- no matter how cowardly, ugly, sad, angry, depressed, betrayed, drunk, murderously hateful you may feel or even be inwardly, or outwardly. No matter what you have done, or will do, or want to do, Christ will save those who are truly repentent. God ONLY is able to search our hearts. He it is ONLY who will determine who is worthy of His gift of Salvation (ONLY by that salvation, do you have entrance into Heaven), freely given Through the death of His Son Jesus, as the ONLY Sacrifice acceptable as recompense for our sins. Yes, He gives this gift, yet, we must ACCEPT it. If we do not accept it, we are NOT worthy, and we can not be let in. If you refuse to BELIEVE, well then- the gift was never accepted.

You may not ever get another chance. Please, Please do not let that be you. When we pass from this life to the next, I want to be able to see everyone this message touches whether or not we have ever met, been friends, enemies, whatever– I do not care. Please be there. Please accept His gift. Time is so short. Just look at what is going on around us. You have to feel in some way that this is all bulding up to some stupendously horrific ending. But it does not have to be horrific for us as long as we have faith that God will keep His eternal promises, which are so wondrously fantastic- this earth pales in comparison. He has a work for ALL to do before our time is up. Please heed His call.

Only Jesus is The Resurrection, the Way, the Truth, and the Life. He Who Believes in Him, Will never die.

Welcome to the wildest, craziest, scariest time on earth. I am praying for all of whom this message of Life and Love reaches. I urge you to please go the above site, and after you are finished with the article, please explore the rest of the site. I have to say that I was led to it, because I was. Many, if not all, of your questions about what ‘all of what is happening lately means?’ will be answered.

    I Corinthians 7:29 But this I say, brethren, the time is short: it remaineth, that both they that have wives be as though they had none; 7:30And they that weep, as though they wept not; and they that rejoice, as though they rejoiced not; and they that buy, as though they possessed not;

  15. Re: “…The vast majority (86%) think the afterlife involves a sense of peace and 66 percent describe it as a place of happiness. Three in five adults believe there will be no more suffering when they die…”
    I am pagan.
I was ancestrally, ‘Catholic’, but the bad theology, (sexism; racism; homophobia; anti-scientific fantasizing…), and criminality, (Real-estate parking; banking, ‘N, other frauds; sexual ‘N, other violence; the ‘cardinal McCarrick’ and other obstructions of justice scandals), cured that!
We DON’T have ‘eternal damnation’ in our theology…

  16. If Jews (or those from the tribe) are Gods chosen people. They don’t believe Jesus is messiah. Are they going to hell.

God loves all nations but — you’re going to hell.
God has a special relationship with the nation of Israel but – you’re going to hell.
Seems that my Christian brethren have and are sentencing a lot of people to hell. Now there’s an ego for ya!

“Many have perished, along with all others who refused to trust in God’s provision for their forgiveness. God loves all the nations, as He has proved by sending Christ to die for all of us. He has a special relationship with the nation of Israel, but individuals within that nation must believe in order to be saved.

    1. So, you ascribe to Oprah Winfrey’s gid, which does not exercise Righteous Judgement?……how, convenient for secularists or agnostics…..

  17. The ABCs of Salvation, or how to be right with God, and know for sure you’re going to Heaven:

    A. A-dmit that you’re a sinner.

As it is written: There is none righteous, no, not one. Romans 3:10

For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. Romans 3:23

    B. B-elieve that Jesus Christ died for your sins and rose again.

He Himself bore our sins in His body on the cross. 1 Peter 2:24

For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received, that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures… 1 Corinthians 15:3-4

    C. C-all on the Lord Jesus Christ to save you.

If you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation. Romans 10:9-10

For whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved. Romans 10:13

The moment you decide to “believe” (which means to put your trust in what Jesus has done for you) God saves you and your eternal destiny in Heaven is assured. You go from spiritual death to eternal life the moment you believe.

Jesus said it this way: Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life. John 5:24????

  18. you dont need a study to tell you that the fancy bipedal monkeys that inhabit this rock are D U M B!

  19. Did God Create Everything that exists or ever existed? Most answers are “Yes.” If God created everything, DID GOD CREATE GOD? Does God know everything that is, was or will ever be? If yes, did God know that the SATAN SNAKE would cause Eve and Adam to bring sin into the world? Did God know when he created Mankind that he would drown almost all of His children by the Great Flood? If he knows everything that is, was or will be he knew that. Since God knows everything, does he know before a child is born, a child that he loves, whether or not the child will go to heaven or hell? If he does know that a child to be born will perish in hell, where is His love for that child?
