Best Perfumes For Fall: Top 5 Fragrances Most Recommended By Experts

Now that we are in the midst of autumn vibes, perfume lovers are excitedly swapping out their breezy summer scents for more foliage-friendly and moody fall fragrances. If you aren’t a fragrance expert, how do you know which ones give the cozy feel you crave? We have lined up the best perfumes for fall, so you don’t have to.

If you are obsessed with all of the delicious flavors and smells that come with fall, you are not alone! Why wait to devour a turkey on Thanksgiving? Many Americans believe their favorite fall dishes taste just as good outside the actual season. A survey of 2,000 Americans asked whether seasonal foods, beverages, or activities should only be a treat people enjoy during their matching seasons or year-round. Researchers find that a person’s personality type could influence their timing preferences. Commissioned by The Honey Baked Ham Company and conducted by OnePoll, the study reveals that no matter your personality type, the overall favorite season is fall (32%), with 69 percent saying that time of year has the best seasonal flavors.

Certain aromas can send us back to the past in a flash. The smell of the sea brings many back to childhood summers at the beach. For others, freshly baked pumpkin pie evokes memories of their grandma’s kitchen. Now, researchers from the University of California-Irvine found that a form of aroma therapy can help improve older adults’ memories by a considerable margin. A fragrance wafted through the bedrooms of older adults for two hours every night for a total of six months, and their memory skills improved in a major way. Incredibly, study authors report that the participants enjoyed a 226-percent increase in cognitive capacity compared to a control group.

Any autumn lover knows there’s practically no point in sipping a Starbucks pumpkin spice latte wrapped in an oversized scarf unless you smell the part too. To help narrow down your search for your next fragrance, StudyFinds searched 10 expert websites for their reviews of the best perfumes for fall on the market. This list rounds up the most recommended scents, but if you have a favorite that you pull out each season, be sure to let us know in the comments below!

The List: Best Perfumes for Fall, According to Experts

1. Diptyque Fleur de Peau

Diptyque is a floral fragrance for women that is a fall favorite. “If you love musk, you’ll love this very enveloping and comforting fragrance. Notes are aldehydes, pink pepper, angelica, bergamot, iris, and Turkish rose, and base notes are musk, ambrette, carrot, ambergris, sandalwood, leather, and amber wood,” says Leonce Chenal

Some scents can be warm and inviting, and some dark and intimidating. This one is said to represent the texture of plush, luxurious leather. “A sensual and bold fragrance is a bit of an outlier for Diptyque, but though they don’t do it often, they still do it very well,” offers Byrdie.

Diptyque is one of the most coveted fragrance brands in the game, and Eau Moheli is exceptional. “Not only is the packaging glamorous in and of itself, but the fall-leaning perfume also features ylang-ylang, pink peppercorn, ginger, and vetiver for an ever so slightly spicy yet woodsy scent that’s airy, crispy, and green, just like the season,” says Who What Wear.

2. Maison Francis Kurkdjian Paris 724 Eau de Parfum

This is a musky floral fragrance that is ideal to wear on morning walks through your neighborhood. “Inspired by the electricity of city streets on sunny mornings. The scent is a blend of bergamot, sandalwood, jasmine, sweet pea, and mock orange,” explains In Style.

This scent is inspired by the light of a pure blue sky behind a cityscape. How romantic is that? “It’s an effervescent, refreshing scent that feels like a fresh, cool breeze on your skin. It’s sophisticated without feeling sporty and floral without feeling typical. I was apprehensive about this one, but it was a pleasant surprise that I’ll be returning to often,” explains Byrdie.

For a touch of brightness amid the shorter days and longer nights, there’s this woody amber blend. “It features deep base notes of cedar, fir resin, and musky ambergris softened by sweet Egyptian jasmine and leathery saffron,” says Vogue.

3. Maison Margiela Autumn Vibes

Maison Margiela’s Autumn Vibes is an eau de toilette spray that intends to recreate the feeling of taking a walk on a crisp fall day. “The fragrance uses notes of cedarwood essence, moss accord, pink pepper essence, and cardamom essence to evoke crunching leaves beneath your feet during a fall stroll. It comes in three sizes: 0.34, 1.5, and 3.4 ounces,” informs USA Today.

As the cozy name would suggest, this fragrance is one part peppery and one part woodsy. “Thanks to keynotes such as pepper essence, tonka bean absolute, and cedarwood,” says Who What Wear.

Maison Margiela’s Replica line is all about creating fragrances that bring about vivid scenes and memories. “By the Fireplace has smoky and woody notes that sit atop comforting vanilla. Intended to transport you to a cozy evening curled up by the fire, this scent is perfect to add some warmth to chilly fall days and nights,” says CNN.

4. Lancome Idole L’Eau de Parfum Nectar

If you are someone who is notoriously into daily sweet treats, may we suggest you make Lancôme’s Idôle L’eau De Parfum Nectar one of them? “This reinvention of the brand’s Idôle fragrance is a delectable gourmand and floral scent with notes of rose layered with popcorn accord and bourbon vanilla,” boasts In Style.

Lancome Idole’s captivating charm is the perfect addition to elevate your fall ensembles and provide a sense of poise and sophistication. “The crisp air of autumn enhances the allure of this fragrance, making it an ideal choice for those who seek to embrace their femininity and confidence. The luminous rose notes create an aura of elegance, while the velvety jasmine adds a touch of sensuality. The softness of white musk brings a delicate and comforting aspect, perfect for crisp autumn days and evenings,” says perfume.com.

Whether you’re strolling through falling leaves or enjoying the city’s crisp air, Yves Saint Laurent Libre is the perfect scent to accompany your autumn adventures. “This modern and confident fragrance encapsulates the essence of the season, inspiring a sense of freedom and boldness. The fresh and herbaceous notes of lavender add a touch of sophistication and intrigue, while the creamy and floral orange blossom complements its delicate sweetness.
